Before our second dive of the day we looked for shelter for a cuppa. Gibbon point was windy so we headed over to Oak park where there we some divers walking in off the shore. After our cuppa we headed across Bate bay, thinking one of the reefs would be a second dive. Part way across we realised we had not taken our hoods off the back of the boat and they were no longer there. Heading back to look for them we got back to Oak park, only to find they were sitting on the back of the boat. Lucky one. Bate Bay was quite chopped up due to the wind so we decided that the whale watch platform at Kurnell would be good. I had seen that Michael McFadyen had dived it recently and his description sounded interesting. And it was. Still on twins we descended to rocks and big walls. Heading north we quickly found the cave and a nice cuttle inside it. Following the wall the found lots of PJs. Out on the sand a bit we saw a turtle, fairly rare in these waters. Interesting is that it only had one back flipper. It swam off before we could get too close. Back on the wall we went around the 90 degree turn in the wall and out to a point where there is a lovely sponge garden. We turned just past here, following the rocks back towards our anchor point. The viz was not good and we could not find the anchor so a quick surface was required to find the boat 20m away. This is a lovely dive site and well worth further visits.
