Shiprock is one of those dives that most have to
do by climbing down a steep and treacherous path between houses.
We prefer to anchor the boat and drop over the side. August 14,
2010 was no different. There were at least 8 divers that had
climbed down as we dropped over the side. We did the obligatory
visit to the bubble cave and then followed the wall along. I found
the commemorative plaque and gave it a bit of a clean with my glove.
Nothing very spectacular on this dive and the viz was only about 5m.
Still, it's worth doing Shiprock regularly. What amazed me was the
divers in thin wet suits and no hoods. With the water temperature
at 16oC I really felt for them.
