My last dive for 2010 and we were heading back to Bate Bay from the Whale Watch Platform. We thought we might dive the Hilda but didn't have the co-ordinates for it.  A spur of the moment decision to check out the bottom along this part of the coast brought us to a dip from 5m to 13m and back, opposite a gap in the sheer wall of the coast.  We anchored in 5m with the boat hanging out over 13m.  We found a long wall running along the coast, the top at 5m and the bottom at around 15m.  Lots of very large boulders hinted at swim throughs and caves and lots of nooks and crannies to explore.  There was plenty of fish life here, and with a bottom ranging from 5m to 18+m there is a lot of variety.  It's also well sheltered from most seas and winds.

We did not spend a lot of time here but certainly will be back.  Michael McFadyen briefly describes this site on his web site.
