Hadn't done Wedding cake for a while so with reasonably calm seas we headed over to Wedding Cake Island. Without a bottom finder (it's in for repairs) we anchored out from the island generated waves but still in only 10m of water. The first 10 mins was plain boring. Kelp, bland rocks and limited fish. We headed further out to the East and found the first wall. This harbored very friendly cuttles, one of them followed us after putting on a very good show. Further south and east we came to the gutters and gullies. These are quite deep and worth further exploration as there was loads of fish in the gutters and small caves and some swim throughs though tight looked promising. The surge was very strong so we opted for the safe approach and did not venture into them. We did find another grapple anchor - fairly new with strong chain and a stainless steel buckle. The rope was thicker than we normally see as well. We recovered this one. ON 33% Nitrox we managed a respectable 62 mins for my 298th dive.
