North Bay snorkelling

The Island Trader is the ship that supplies Lord Howe Island.  It comes every 2 weeks on a Saturday and takes up to a day and a half to unload and load.

All sorts of items are delivered to the island.  Some of the things I saw were cars, fuel and LPG, building materials, fresh fruit and vegetables, macadamia trees, groceries for the shops and a coolroom.

The ship holds 300T, some in the holds and the rest on the deck.  It can only come and go on high tide.  When it arrives it ties up at the jetty and is floating but as the tide goes out she becomes high and dry on the sandy bottom till the tide comes in again.
