SS Annie M Miller 27-10-07

A lovely warm morning out of Botany Bay. We had planned to
do Cape Banks Caverns but with the seas flat, almost millpond in spots
we agreed the Annie M Miller was calling. This was my first dive
with a Seaquest ProQD Redline BCD so I was quite interested in how it
performed. Down we went, and the viz was great. The wreck
was covered in fish, you literally had to part them to see much at all.
On top of the boiler rested a small wobbie, but down under the boiler
was a very large one. I counted 4 moray eels, one in one of the
boiler pipes. On 30% Nitrox we got 17 mins bottom time with a16
min deco stop at 5m. Not bad. The BCD performed well. It
is a jacket style and I am used to rear inflation. The only
difference compared to my Seaquest Balance was response time. I
felt that the Pro QD was slower to respond to a burst of air from the
inflator, or venting air. This might be related to the jacket
style. But it was incredibly comfortable and has lots of pockets
for all the stuff that I carry around. |
