This Saturday morning, April 15, 2006 we had really strong Sw
winds. We braved the very choppy waters of Botany Bay, aiming to dive the
Hilda wreck. We got to the site, nicely sheltered from the winds by the
cliffs. The seas were a different matter. They were bigger than
forecast and too big for us to leave the boat unattended. We headed back
and anchored right on the point of Inscription point. The depth is over
22m here on the sand. Viz was good and we enjoyed a lovely dive heading
East and South from the boat. Wayne was trying out his new Inon strobe for
the first time so he took lots of pics.
On our second dive we headed East into the shallows close to the
shore. At just 6m there is a huge amount of small fish life around the
rocks and ledges. There are lots of walls and overhangs and it is quite a
pleasant area. A large school of yellowtail virtually swam right through
us. Towards the end of this dive Wayne came across a giant cuttle.
It took offence at him and charged him repeatedly, getting 10-15m away from it's
"home" as Wayne swam backwards away from it. It totally ignored me.
