We had intended for Jenny and I to dive Bare Island and that's where we
headed. It was like a washing machine with high tides and slop everywhere.
I watched divers bob on the surface uncomfortably and several be washed up onto
the rocks trying to exit. Both sides were bad. We chose to drive
around to Kurnell. Here we were told the viz was bad and there was a strong out
going current. We chose to enter at the beach through a channel in the
rocks. Heading out at 30o after
several minutes of kelp we hit the wall and followed it out. Some nice
nudies, cuttles and large friendly groper were nice. Once out in 10m depth
or so the viz improved somewhat. We headed East, aiming to exit at the
point. I surfaced when I thought we were at the point and we were in good
position to take a 210 course back in. The seas here were gentle and the
tide going out so our exit was not bad. Jen struggled to get to her feet.
Once her fins were off it was better but in the process of getting out I dropped
one of her fins without even knowing. So we now will have a spare XS Blue
Cressi reaction fin.
