Seas were up again so having managed a dive at Minmi trench and the seas
getting bigger and sloppier we headed into Botany Bay and to Anchor
Reef. Wow is the word. Water was a warm 22oC
and viz was great. We anchored right above the anchor and our
slate. I put a new slate in the rope there. I'm curious
whether divers get here much. Right at the start there was a boar
fish, again out in the open. Got some nice pics of it. We
headed East around the reef and followed it around. On the other
side I found a nudie that I hadn't seen before. I got some pics of
it (see below). We headed right around the reef and back to the
anchor again. We then criss crossed the reef, finding a weedie.
There were lots of other fish including schools of yellowtail, bulleye,
old wives, groper, cardinals and mowongs to name a few. Again a
lovely dive at this old favourite. We spent 57 mins here at a
depth of around 18m, even on 24% Nitrox we were out of no decompression
time.
