February 7, 2009 marked my 500th dive. This one was 499 and Wayne and Jen were with me. The seas were really sloppy but hooking up to the mooring on the south side of the rock was easy. Jen started to feel queezy but got into the water quickly and it eased some. We went down the mooring to the bottom at around 22m, first going east, then returning and going west. Plenty of fish life despite the poor viz and particles in the water. Bullseye in schools, moray eels, old wives and cuttles to name a few. Towards the end of the dive we came across a juvenile wobbiegong right beside the mooring. It stayed there for a few minutes before moving out into the open so we could get some better pics. Lous rock cascades down to about 27m on the sand but on 40% Nitrox I wasn't going that deep. |
