In perfect conditions, Jen Wayne and I head down to Port
Kembla for some diving. The seas were forecast at 0.2m 17 secs
apart and 5tkm/hr winds, fine and sunny. And it was pretty much
that good.
This dive was to be a big test for Jen. She has
suffered badly from sea sickness and no drugs or remedies to date had
been successful As soon as the boat stops moving she started to
feel sea sick. She has now had 4 sessions of hypnotherapy for this
affliction and we were hopeful for a positive outcome.
We chose to dive Pig Island Sth first as Jen has not
dived there before and if she were to start to feel unwell at least she
should get to dive this very fishy site. All was good and not even
a hint of uneasiness at any time.
The area was covered in fish, huge schools of them all
around us. A wobbiegong was so well camouflaged that Jen nearly
put her hand on it. It took fright and swam away very quickly.
Further into the dive we found 2 damsel fish and nearby a large moray
eel. Towards the end of our dive a cuttle came out to greet us.
He was quite curious and hung around us, quite fearless. We got
some nice pics of him before we had to surface.
Another great dive at one of the fishiest dive sites in
this part of the coast.
