Well, a very early start - we meet at 6am (it's just
getting light) and head out to Magic Point. The sea is sloppy and
the wind is threatening to blow up but we get the anchor set and over we
go. At the cave there is one GNS cruising around. We are the
only divers there at this time of the morning and the viz is quite good
and at 21oC we are unlikely to get
cold just hanging around. The GNS cruises around getting quite
close to me as I quietly hover above the sand. I get some great
video as well as pics. There is the 2 devilfish, one on the left
side and the other on the right side of the cave. These 2 are
regulars and today were well out of their usual holes. The larger
of the 2 headed out of cave and along the rocks to the west. A lovely
cuttle, no doubt the one that is normally on the right side at the front
of the cave came toward me from the back of the cave. They are so
curious. We headed down to the sand line at 22m and followed the
rocks around in a generally westerly direction. A juvenile wobbie
was resting on the sand. We took a few pics of it - it wasn't
happy appearing quite unsettled so we moved on. There are large
boulders and over hangs down here and this area is also worth exploring.
We were getting close to deco despite being on 27% Nitrox and so our 64
minute dives comes to an end. We have a very hairy trip back to
Botany Bay through sloppy seas and strong winds. Even Botany Bay
does not offer a lot of shelter. |
