We like to get to Magic Point early to beat the rush of larger dive
boats which we believe scare the GNS away. On this day the wind
was strong but the seas flat. Anchoring was easy and in we went to
15 degree water but great viz. As we approach the cave we come
across a juvenile wobbie resting on the rock ledge. We approach
cautiously and it takes no notice of us at all. We get some really good
pics and visit it again toward the end of our dive. At the cave there
are no GNS at all. There are a number of pregnant PJs deep in the
cave and 2 devilfish in the left side of the cave. These 2 have
been on the cave in one corner or the other for quite a while.
Exploring deeper there is not much to see. However I spy a small
PJ swimming right at us. It comes right up to me and I put my hand
out in front of it and it stops. I see it has a hook on it's mouth
and there is weed hanging off that. I move a bit to allow me to
get at the weed. I must have scared it as it swam of quickly.
On the down side my dry suit leaks and I get wet and end up with water
in my boots. During the surface interval we find a small cut on
the right sleeve, not big but it let a lot of water in. We try to
tape it up for the second dive but that doesn't work either.
