Two weeks between dives is just too long. June 18 sees the
sea still up at 2m running SE but we manage a comfortable enough run down to
Magic Point where we have it to ourselves. I'm wearing my thick
undergarment and dry suit and Wayne's twin 10s. I had 8 lb of lead on.
When we went down the viz was very poor. The water was very milky and viz
at best 2m. We got to the cave with Wayne underweighted. I gave him
4lb of mine which helped. There were 7 GNS in all including 3 juvenile.
In the poor viz we would see the sharks coming out of the gloom. I had
left the mask off my camera strobe so all I got in a pic was white out. So I
reverted to video which was OK. The sharks got quite close - around 1/2 m.
It is quite exhilarating when they get this close. On the way back we
could not find the anchor so surfaced, finding the boat not more than 15m away.
I dived back down to retrieve the anchor.
