After our dive on the Kelloe we headed to Magic Point.
When we got there it was like Pitt street. There was Pro-dive big boat,
Plunge's boat and 2 others, most with divers in the water. While cruising
around we saw a sudden rise on the bottom finder from 22m to 7m. This is
NE of the cave, maybe 80 to 100m from our mark for Magic Point. We marked
this and to be sure we went over it a few times. This needs further
investigation.
We talked to Henry for a bit and had our cuppa and cake.
Pro-dive packed up and headed off, Henry was back at Long bay doing another pick
up and the other 2 boats were also packing up. This was our chance.
Henry had said there was 12 GNS and he was right. We had anchored more
east than normal so came around the rock point and what we have come to know as
wobbie hole. There is almost always a vey large wobbie in this hole in the
rock face The sharks were very active. Swimming around and out of the cave
and then coming back again. Surprising given the number of divers that had
descended on them, some no doubt stirring the bottom up quite a bit.
In the east corner was a lovely devilfish. We headed over
to the second cave, found a cuttle on the way and another large wobbie in the
cave. As we left the cave a large GNS gilded past us. Viz was
deteriorating at this point. At the main cave another boat load from Plunge had
descended so we departed.
As we left we saw some divers well out from the cave, about
where this bommie is, so now we defiantly need to check it out more.
