Keen to get Jenny out for another dive, and after great conditions on
Saturday we headed for Shelley with the plan to do a double dive,
Shelley and Fairy Bower. Once there and paying the $16 parking fee
we went down for a look. Lot of divers there including a group
from Plunge. We caught up with Matt and Nicky who were on Jen's OW
course. The water was a warn 21oC
and looked clear. And clear it was in places. We headed out
to the right following the rocks and it was very clear. but once
we got to about 9m deep the surge became quite big and the sand that was
being moved around meant that viz was down to a few metres. We
headed back to clearer waters where we found a small wobbie and lots of
fish life - bullseye, mado, groper, wrasse. We crawled around the
rocks for a while exploring the crevices and then headed back.
I had put one pound weights between Jen's boots and fins to try to over come her floaty feet. This worked. We had lunch and we could see the storm coming over so we packed up and just go everything away and down it came. We spent the rest of the afternoon at Manly Oceanworld. |
