Osbourne shoals is another of the many reefs in Bate Bay. It is closer to shore than most and to the north of the bay. It is also shallower at 23m on the sand, It is larger than Pizza reef - from the NE corner where we normally anchor it is around 30 minutes down to the southern end at a leisurely pace. Where we anchor there is a small cave that always has bullseye around it. There is a lovely sponge garden on the north end of the cave. It is not big but you can swim into it. We have found cuttles, both mourning and there larger cousins and devilfish in the cave. Heading down the edge of the reef there are walls 3-4m tall and then a number of gutters until you get to the south end and where the rock formations include ledges and looser rocks.Always lots of fish here we always enjoy this dive site.
