Sunday 9th Nov 2008 and it's finally warm enough for Jenny to get back into the water. Even in a hood, 5mm semi-dry and undrgarment and socks, under 18oC is too cold for her. So we headed out from the boat ramp on a day when parking was at a real premium. There were at least 4 OW dive courses running - I guess the flat seas and warm sun had a lot to do with it. We followed the ref out to the West to the cave at the end. We diverted across toward sea horse rock but no sea horses. And at the end of the cave where there used to be sea horses - also none. We went around the end of the reef and then back over the top of the reef and down over the top of the cave. Then back, following the reef. In about 8m we came across 2 mourning cuttles, close together. They were not worried about our presence and we got quite close to them. The flashed colours from pale white to dark brown. I was able to swim around them and get some nice shots of Jenny with them. A great encounter with some of the smaller creatures in the sea. Jen did really well - had not forgotten any of her skills. |
