Another great afternoon to get wet at Bare Island.
We dropped off the South East end of the island at close to low tide.
Viz was quite good. We immediately found the anchor, shrouded in
bright green weed. Then back and a very slow swim along the sand
line. There was nudies a plenty, Maori wrasse, stripeys and
lots more. Towards the turn to go back up under the bridge we came
across an octopus out hunting. It took a liking our strobes and
reached out and grabbed mine, then when I pulled my strobe back, it
reached out for Wayne's. It was quite fascinating to watch and
play with. We went under the bridge, then circled around looking
for the outboard motor. We didn't find it. An easy climb out at
the ramp and we were done. Surprisingly there was only one other
pair of divers around.
