With day light savings we can do some mid week shore dives. We tend to do Wednesday as I work closer to the coast on that day most weeks. Seas were flat and we thought a circum navigate was on. We entered on the east side of Bare Island, swimming across the kelp before dropping over the shelf and down onto the sand. Viz was only fair (maybe 5-7m) with a lot of floating material in the water. We looked for the anchor but could not find it easily. Heading south after a while we started to head more west so as to cross the back of the island at about 10m. The current here was moderate and finning against it took a bit of effort. Viz was still only fair and after some hard finning we dropped down to the deep wall. Here the current was running to the west so we could drift along. At the old anchor we headed North to the reef, west along the reef to the cave and then back along the edge of the reef to exit at the boat ramp. A hard 68 min dive and I had very little air left. |
