This was Jenny, my partner's first dive after her OW course.  The west side was the only divable side and the viz was down to about 3m.  We planned to get in at the ramp but were advised by divers from Plunge to enter a bit further south.  I had put my dive flag in at the ramp intending to move it out further once in the water.  Having entered further South I forgot about the flag.  Sadly, some low life took it, weight and all while we were in the water.  We followed the reef out and after about 10 mins the viz improved.  We went to sea horse rock and the dumbbell that is sitting in the middle of the sand.  The end of the reef, at the cave had a swarm of cat fish.  Yuk.  We did see many fish, including a large groper that followed us, scaring Jenny until she realised it was harmless.  And an octopus that I encouraged out of it's hole, only to slink away.  Flathead seem to be common at the moment.  I have seen them regularly over the last month.

She did well, but in my desire to make sure she went OK, I did not take any pics.

There's always next time
