After Minmi we headed into the shelter of Bare Island
for a cuppa. We felt the deep wall would be worth a look so we
anchored close to an odd looking mooring, close the island. Down
we went, finding lots of PJs, a couple of other divers and to the West a
large old anchor in the sand. We came across the cable that
belonged to the mooring that we had seen on the surface. it was
broken and floating free, presenting a navigation hazard. At the
surface and back in the boat we had a close look. The mooring was
a large red float on a 6m aluminum pole. It has a yellow flag and
and a light at the top. We didn't want to leave it to drift into
the shipping channel so we pulled it out of the water and took it back
to shore.
